Scholar One

Using ScholarOne Manuscripts

Some people are uncomfortable using online submission software.  I understand.  These systems can be maddening.  I have tried to make the IEE ScholarOne Manuscripts site user friendly.  I have rewritten the instructions.  I have added annotated screen shots on every page (look for the links).  With these aids, you should be able to use the SOM site without too much hassle.  If you have any suggestions or comments, please email me.

Spam

Some people's email systems are treating email sent from ScholarOne Manuscripts as spam. If this is happening to you, go here for instructions on how to resolve the problem. (Presumably this problem will be resolved in an upcoming revision of MC.)

Being Prompt

This is a massive project. It's success depends of more than 800 people doing their respective tasks, and doing them on time. I realize that sometimes you may not be able to meet your deadline; life has a way of throwing obstacles in our paths. However, please try to submit your entries and your reviews ontime. Each delay puts added burdens on your philosophical colleagues.

Thanks

I am very pleased with the way the IEE is progressing.  Many academics have graciously accepted our request to contribute.  The Editorial Board has done a superb job of helping to set the headwords and to identify potential authors.  Tthe Review Board is doing an admirable job making sure that each entry is clear, informed (and informative), and relevant.  And the entries that have already been submitted are, as a whole, excellent.  Thanks for lending your expertise to this project.

The "International" Element of the IEE

        (Only relevant for some topics)
Unless the entry specifically concerns a geographical area, do not focus exclusively on your own country.  You may use issues from your country to illustrate some point.  But try to make your entry as international in flavor as possible.

From the publisher

Many thanks to all of you for participating in the creation of the International Encyclopedia of Ethics. Publishers are sometimes known to indulge in breathless hyperbole when it comes to their publications, but in this case a bit of gushing is warranted. Our aim with the IEE is to provide no less than the most comprehensive and authoritative ethics resource available, dynamic and constantly growing, the first place to look for anyone who wishes to know about the subject. I am confident that the IEE will meet this aim, and that with the tireless leadership of the editor-in-chief, the invaluable advice of the editorial board, the hundreds of contributions from an international cast of outstanding scholars, and the critical recommendations of the review board, the International Encyclopedia of Ethics will be an invaluable resource for generations to come. I am grateful and excited to play a part in such a wonderful endeavor.

Thanks again,

Jeff Dean, Ph.D.
